Rider check-in – 7pm

Ride start – 8pm

University of Western Australia, Car park 43

Check-in and Rider Pack collection

Rider pouches can be collected at check-in

Your BWA waterproof rider pouch contains:

  • Rider ID wristband (essential to wear throughout the ride for identification and to access rest stops)
  • Snack voucher (redeem at Rest Stop Two)
  • Coffee voucher (redeem at Rest Stop One/Event Village)
  • A goodie to help you #RideBright

What to bring
  • Your bicycle – any type of bicycle is acceptable
  • Bicycle helmet (that meets or exceeds the Australian Standards)
  • Front white and rear red light
  • Mobile phone

We suggest you bring a spare tube (or tyre repair kit) and a pump.

What to wear

Light, comfortable casual clothing (Lycra is optional).  The weather forecast is looking perfect for the event but we recommend you come prepared for cool overnight temperatures.  You don’t need any fancy cycling gear just come relaxed and ready to ride.

We want you to #RideBright in your most colourful gear, light up your bike and illuminate the streets of Perth.  We’re thinking glow-in-the-dark facepaint, fairylights, glowsticks and lots of colour.

Thanks to Airstream we’ve got five funky iZone starter packs for the best dressed people and bikes so be creative and win!

The course

The easy-to-ride course is signposted with directional arrows and flashing LED lights.  Some of the corners will have marshals to point you in the right direction (give them a wave as you go past).

You can view the course map HERE>>

We will be providing turn-by-turn direction guides on the night – you can collect one when you check-in or download a copy HERE (save a copy to your phone).

The ride is a leisurely cruise, although there is a cut off that riders coming from Kings Park under narrows bridge after 10:30pm will be turned back to UWA.

Please note the course is subject to change without notice.

Road rules apply

The course uses a combination of roads and shared paths.  You will be sharing the roads with other traffic and normal road rules apply throughout the event.  Unless otherwise directed by Police you must obey all traffic signals and signs.

Luminocity is NOT a race and the event is untimed. Take your time to soak up the atmosphere, stop to take a few selfies and enjoy the ride.

You can download a copy of the Cycling Rules HERE

Rest Stops

There are rest stops along the course – all have toilets and water

Rest Stop One – The University of Western Australia, Car park 43

– Show us your moves and grooves at the silent disco

– Redeem your coffee voucher

Rest Stop Two – Claisebrook Cove

– Redeem your snack voucher

Cycling Without Age

When you participate in Luminocity, you’ll be helping Cycling Without Age WA (CWA).   CWA works with the elderly to help them feel more included in their community and experience the benefit of being on a bicycle MORE  ONLY cash donations will be collected by CWA at the event.

Social Media

Along the colourful course make sure you soak up the sights of Perth while you ride.  Share your experience online using the hashtags – #luminocity18, #cwa, #cyclingwithoutage and #nightrideperth.  We’ll share your posts on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Parking at Car park 43 (Event Village) on the eastern side closes at 7:30pm and reopens after the ride – first in best dressed.

The remainder is street side and other UWA carparks except Carpark 3 – which is off Hackett Drive and immediately south of the UWA club, this is reserved for Somerville theatre. See the UWA parking map HERE
